Game Design

Flappy Kukla

This game was created during the time Flappy Bird was the hottest game on the app store. Everyone was playing it. Everyone was addicted. It was THE game of the year — until it wasn’t and it was removed from the app store.

This surprisingly picked up a lot of attention on social media real quick! It had both good and bad attention. But hey, it still got me 10,000 downloads and some quick cash from the ads.

As a summer project, I decided to poke a bit of fun at my own community of Armenian culture and rebrand it to a materialistic ‘kukla’ (translates to ‘doll’ in Russian) avoiding all the overpriced coffee cups to get to where she needs to be: shopping at The Americana on Brand.

I created a brief game design document and created all the assets. From the pixel art assets, to sourcing the music, to recording my own voice for some of the audio and sound effects. The game was coded in Unity. I set up a Google ads campaign to make some money off the ads since this game was free on the App store.
